You Don’t Get It, and That’s the Point!

by Lee Buford on March 1, 2011

Uncertainty and confusion are the epitome of frustration for many of us. Lack of knowledge, understanding, or solutions to our biggest obstacles can cripple our mindsets, our emotions, and our very lives. In fact, for many of us, any lack of control over any situation, at any given time, is the worst thing we can experience.

Or so it seems.

The reality is that such situations and circumstances are the most beneficial for us. We don’t see it, and we fight it with all we have. But for all of us the realization that we’re not control is the beginning of something really good. It’s beginning of total reliance on God.

We’ve all heard it said, that when you dig yourself into a hole, the first thing you’ve got to do is stop digging. In other words you’ve got to come to grips with the reality that you can’t get out of your jam doing it your way. The definition of insanity is to keep doing the same thing expecting a different result. Right?

God is at work continuously, accomplishing His purposes, according to His plan and good pleasure. When we ultimately accept and treasure this truth as a blessing we begin to live with a greater purpose. We begin to walk in faith, trusting in His sovereignty and not our own.

So the next time your down, frustrated, confused, and you just don’t get it, remind yourself of this:

YOU ARE GETTING IT! That’s the point! That’s exactly what God wants you to see.

Trust in Him and walk in faith. He’s not confused or uncertain. According to Him everything is going as planned, and you just need to get on board. Until then, none of this will make any sense, and you’ll continue to battle daily against things you’ll never conquer. By continually relying on your own ability and merit, you are fighting a losing battle.

That’s why you’re where you are. That’s what you’re supposed to see. That’s the point!
