What is Your View of God?

by Lee Buford on October 18, 2011

What is your view of God? It may seem a rather simplistic question, but it is likely one you’ve never been asked or urged to think about. Your answer is important. In fact, your answer dictates the track you’ll take in everything you do.

Who we believe Jesus to be is the most important question we’ll ever answer. And whether or not we think rightly about God, in His entirety, will determine the nature of our worship, our obedience, and our discipleship.

In the first chapter of The Knowledge of the Holy (a must-have book for all Christians), A.W. Tozer describes it this way:

“What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us.

The history of mankind will probably show that no people has ever risen above its religion, and man’s spiritual history will positively demonstrate that no religion has ever been greater than its idea of God. Worship is or base as the worshipper entertains high or low thoughts of God.

For this reason the gravest question before the Church is always God Himself, and the most portentous fact about any man is what he at a given time may say or do, but what he in his deep heart conceives God to be like.”

So what is your view of God? Think about it. Pray about it. Ask God to graciously reveal more of himself to you. Spend time in His Word, committed to the pursuit of knowing Him better.

The stakes are high and the outcome is crucial. Your view of God is of supreme importance. It is, after all, what matters most.
