Trusting Without Wavering

by Lee Buford on May 6, 2010

How do you trust what you can’t see? How do you place your hope and faith in the uncertain?

These are questions you might expect from a “non-Christian”…from someone who isn’t rooted and grounded in the Word of God. But even though we are not quick to admit it, as Christians, there are times when doubt or uncertainty comes creeping into our thoughts. There are times when we’re not super-strong…times when we’re vulnerable to doubt, to question. We know what we’ve read. We know what we’ve heard over the years in sermons from our pastors. We know what we’re “supposed” to believe.

But how do we know, that we know, that we know, that what we believe is true?

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. – Hebrews 10:23 – ESV

Simply put, we can know and trust because we are placing that trust in THE ONE who is faithful.

Hebrews 11:1 reminds us that faith is “the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” If we could see it, it wouldn’t be faith…it wouldn’t be hope.

Our faith, trust, and assurance rests in Him. Have confidence, hold fast…He is faithful!
