Today is a new day, an exciting day, an emotional day, and a bittersweet day…all in one!
A couple months ago my family and I made the decision to pick up our church roots and follow God’s calling by linking up with Renewal Church, a new church plant here in Greenville. Our home church, Rocky Creek Baptist Church, has been partnering with Renewal throughout the pre-launch season, and has been a tremendous blessing from God throughout the process.
In fact, Renewal has been meeting in the Storehouse at Rocky Creek, the student ministry building behind the church. As a result we have been able to remain in our Sunday school class while attending the Renewal gatherings afterwards. I have been able to continue in my role as co-teacher of the class, my wife has been able to continue working with the children’s’ ministry, and my daughters have been able to remain entrenched in a children’s’ ministry that God has so graciously used to impact the lives of children and families alike at Rocky Creek.
Today, that all changes.
Today we spring forward an hour on the clock. Today Rocky Creek begins a new schedule of service and Sunday school times. And today, Renewal Church holds its first service in our new home, the one and only service we will have prior to our “official” launch service next Sunday. Today is exciting for everyone involved!
Tomorrow, I will post a follow-up more specifically relative to the work and service of Renewal Church here in Greenville. Today I want to say thank you to my dear friends at Rocky Creek who, by God’s grace, have been so instrumental in the growth and spiritual maturation of me and my family.
I’m not going to go into details and specifically thank each and every person…I would only leave someone out if I did. So let me say this:
To Pastor Ken Forrester and the staff, to Keith Burgio and our Sunday school class, and to the brothers and sisters with whom we have served and worshipped alongside over the past few years…THANK YOU and WE LOVE YOU!
Each of you will continue to hold a dear and special place in our hearts, and we will forever be grateful for the opportunity to do life with you. We are also grateful to have the opportunity to continue to partner with you in many ways over the coming weeks, months, and years.
We are excited about what God has in store for us going forward, both individually and as a church, and we anxiously go forth from here to serve His kingdom in this new capacity. We will continue to pray for our brothers and sisters at Rocky Creek, and we would appreciate your prayers for us as well.
At the end of the day, this is not the end at all. This is the beginning, the sunrise, the dawn of a new day for us and for two church families we so dearly love. May God continue to use each of us for His glory and holy purposes going forward.
To Him be the glory!
