Seeking the Truth About Hell

by Lee Buford on June 16, 2011

Much attention has been given to the subject of hell in recent months. More specifically, much has been said and written relative to the reality and existence of hell in response to Rob Bell’s latest book, Love Wins. It appears as though the rebuttals to Bell’s book have just begun.

John Starke wrote about several upcoming books on the subject over at the TGC Reviews blog. I am looking forward to reading Francis Chan’s response, Erasing Hell: What God said about eternity, and the things we made up, which is set to be released on July 5th.

The following is the promotional trailer for the book. I believe it is well worth ten minutes of your time to watch, as Chan does a remarkable job of not only clearly explaining why the subject is so important, but also discussing why and how we should appropriately respond to our own thoughts and to the questions of others regarding the subject of hell.

Hell is indeed very real. So are people…every one of us. And Chan is absolutely correct that we ought to humble ourselves before God, seeking to know Him and His Word. As a result we will be far better equipped to know and speak truth with love and compassion.

What are your thoughts? Do you plan to read the book?
