Invest Wisely in Family. First.

by Lee Buford on January 3, 2012

As thoughts turn to a new year and resolutions begin to take hold (or not), the reality is that we all have the same amount of time in a day that we had last year. Just like last year, you will be faced with challenges, deadlines, and circumstances that will force you to decide where and how to invest your time and resources. The decision is really a simple one.

Invest wisely in family. First.

God’s plan for each of us is that we would shepherd and lead our families well. First! Before your job. Before your church. Before your friends. Before your hobbies. Before your anything else. Invest your time and resources in your family first.

And most importantly, invest in them trusting that God will use your efforts to bring them closer to Him. It’s not about “success” or “stuff”. It’s about investing wisely so that, by God’s grace, you might lead a family that loves God, worships Him daily, and seeks first the Kingdom of God in all that they do.

Pray for and with them. Read and study the Bible with them. Spend time talking and laughing with them. Make memories with them. Invest all of your resources in them. First. You might just be surprised how everything else falls into its rightful place thereafter. By God’s grace it will, and He will use your obedience and worshipful heart for His glory in the months to come.

Make no mistake…it’s not going to be easy, and you will have to make choices. So resolve now to make the right choices.

Invest wisely in family. First.
