Why is this so difficult for us to admit?

As Christians we often feel like we are supposed to “have it all together.” Or at least we want everyone to think we do!

I heard an interesting analogy from a pastor on a radio program recently…he said this:

“Church on Sunday is a lot like Halloween. Everybody gets all dressed up and pretends to be something they’re not.”

I say that to say this… I really appreciate genuine transparency in the lives of Christians who are sharing their stories for the glory of God! And you don’t see it near enough.

I saw a post on Twitter today from Justin Davis that inspired me to blog about this. You can read it here.

Justin and Trisha Davis (http://refineus.org/about/)

Justin and his wife, Trisha, are one couple who have laid it all on the line in sharing their story for the glory of God. I’m sure it’s not easy. I’m sure they’ve spent many hours in prayer and contemplation before posting some of their stories. In fact I know they have, because they’ve written about that as well.

But, at the end of the day, they DO IT! They write. They share. They give you a real-world glimpse into the life of fallen humans redeemed by Christ. They want you to know it’s ok…you and I are just like everybody else. We are sinners, and we are desperately dependant on a gracious Savior for help.

Justin and Trisha are not the only ones sharing with this type of brutal honesty. You probably know others as well. But take some time to stop by their site when you get a chance. I’m certain you will be blessed and encouraged by what you read.

And, at the end of the day remember this: I AM MESSED UP and SO ARE YOU!

Let’s drop the facades, extend each other the appropriate grace, and lift one another up in the name of the Lord. To this we are called!
