Fishing for Men (My Daughter’s Guest Post)

by Lee Buford on September 12, 2010

The following post was written by Hannah Buford. She is a 5th grader at Oakview Elementary School.

Tonight my dad is sick. So Iam writing his blog for him.

The subject is fishing for men and telling people about God. This is important because if people do not know about God, they won’t be able to spend eternity with God in heaven.

The verse is Mark 1:17:

And Jesus said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you become fishers of men.”

Here are steps from church this morning about fishing for men:

1.  Go where people are.
2.  Be prepared and know a little about the person.
3.  Tell someone about God.
4.  Tell as many people as you can.
5.  Bring them to church.

Jesus asked us to be fishermen, but not actually fishers of fish. Do it for people who don’t know God.

Well Hannah, I guess that makes you a fisherwoman of men and women, then! You go girl spread the word.

Are you trying to show your dad up? “Hey dad, I bet I can write a much shorter article than you… and more powerful too!”

Very well said, Hannah. Good work and I hope you carry that message with you every day.
