A Journey to Serve…The Beginning

by Lee Buford on February 28, 2010

Let me first say “Welcome”, and “thank you for stopping by my blog!”

This is my first post… EVER! The first of many I hope, but more importantly, the first of what I hope will be a consistent source of community, sharing, encouragement, and value for all of us.

I must tell you that the blogging arena represents a new platform of communication and community for me. Sure, I am deeply entrenched in the Twitter and Facebook worlds, but the thought that some of you might actually appreciate or benefit from something I could share here is a bit more humbling (and scary) than the thought of sharing links, ideas, and thoughts in 140 characters or less.

That said, I have been so blessed by the work of many of you and, as a result, I am attempting to give back to the same community that has meant so much to me. I am ultra-appreciative of folks like Michael Hyatt and Chris Brogan, both of whom set a daily standard for sharing resources and ideas…for FREE, just so you and I can reap the benefits. Folks like Lindsey Nobles and Anne Jackson consistently write with a candor and transparency that inspires me to be real, no matter what the perceived cost. And finally, I couldn’t begin to list the blogs, authors, and pastors I read, all of whom refresh, encourage, and challenge me to lead a more Christ-centered life on a daily basis. Please take a look at my BLOGROLL to see some of the great folks I read on a daily basis.

In a nutshell, I am all about “less of me, more of Him.” One of the premium lessons I have learned in life is that I am here to serve…to help, to encourage, and to love…you and everybody else. Some of you know what I mean here, but when I finally realized it wasn’t really all about me, I suddenly found the significance and purpose I was searching for all along.

In closing, I would like to ask a favor of you as you land here from time to time. Would you take a moment to comment, to share, and to give me feedback? Your ideas and thoughts will be a great source of growth for me personally and, in turn, will hopefully help all of us have a greater impact on the lives of those around us.

That’s the ultimate goal!

Thank You, and God Bless!
